Religious Education

We currently use the Come and See programme, approved and recommended by the Diocese of Hallam to teach Religious Education.

Come and See is developed through three themes:

  • Church
  • Sacrament
  • Christian Living

RE lessons include teaching on scripture, doctrine, liturgy and the sacraments, spiritual and moral development, as well as other major world faiths. Children learn through a range of activities including reading, drama, art and music.

Each term, pupils study three topics each lasting approximately four weeks and following a common theme throughout school. As the children move through the school, this theme is developed further, appropriate to the pupils’ age and stage of learning.

The basic question – belief for each season is explored through three further themes.

  • Church - Community of faith
  • Sacraments - Celebration of Ritual
  • Christian Living-Way of life

Throughout 2024/25 we will be transitioning to the new curriculum laid out in the Religious Education Directory (RED)  - further information to follow.
